Wonderful Wednesdays - Halloween Edition

Hello!
So, since tomorrow is Halloween (or All Hallow's Eve, hehe) I thought it only appropriate to have a Halloween inspired post!

This amazing little project makes me smile.

Apparently this is Tim Burton wearing a costume made by his mom. Enough said.

For anyone near the Elora, Ontario region each month in October the town hosts Monster Month where the artist Tim Murton (sounds like Burton, hehe) decorates the place with his cool sculptures. We went one year and it was super rad. Apparently, he adds more creatures each year.

Llarowe Vamp

Vamp from Colors by Llarowe is awesome. It's a gorgeous juicy red, I would say, that's wonderfully holographic. Look at that baby shine!! It doesn't necessarily look vampy to me but it isn't a bright, firecracker red either. It's a slightly deeper red than the traditional.

I really love this polish. Holographic reds are a pleasant twist on the typical red nail. There are a variety of nail colours that I love but red nails always make me feel great, without a doubt!

I couldn't get enough of this colour in the sunlight. Optimal lighting for catching that holographic shine.

Here's a cute bracelet from Disney Couture which is, alas, no more. I really wish that they would bring that line back and to its former stellar glory.

The inscription on the bracelet reads: "You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think"

How awesome is that? It helps keep the self-esteem up :)

I'll give you another chance to embrace the holo. hehe

Come to the holo side. ;)

Black Gold Texas Tea Llarowe

Black Gold Texas Tea from Llarowe is an awesome polish.
I like the idea of black nail polish but always find flat black polishes to be too boring. Insert holographic glitter and you've got one bottle of amazingness.

I'd say that this is a classy mani. Gold and black? You really can't go wrong.
I used Crows Toes Her Goose Got Cooked over OPI's Don't Pretzel My Buttons.

Golden Eyes, Vampy Lips

I've been following the gorgeously amazing, super talented, and wonderfully inspiring makeup artist Linda Hallberg for about a year now and just love how she combines exquisite makeup with great photographs. So, I'm taking some direction from her and trying to get a little more interesting with my photos.

bitch face? check!
I don't think I'll be up to the same caliber as Linda but this set up should be better, at least.

However, you will have to bare with some of the old style sprinkled in as I have yet to upload some.

I really do recommend Linda's blog because she is seriously my favourite makeup artist!!

Shleee Polish Descension and Ascension

This is probably one of my favourite nail designs I've done in a while. I had been getting a little tired of just nails with sparkle top coats or tri-accents so I wanted to try something different. The glitter duo Descension and Ascension by Shleee Polish is amazing and was the inspiration for this design.

I first applied OPI's Play the Peonies as I thought the shimmery white complimented the shimmer base of the two Shleee polishes quite well. Next, I used those paper reinforcer things as a guide for OPI's Mermaid Tears. Ascension and Descension were applied to the lower half of the nail.

I seriously loved this mani, as noted previously, and have to say I was really proud of it :)
It's the little things!

Yayayayayay. That's all folks!

CrowsToes Shoot the Butterfly + OPI A Roll In the Hague {Halloween 2013 Mani #2}

CrowsToes Shoot the Butterfly is a gorgeous polish and it also happens to be perfect for Halloween. I couldn't resist pairing this polish with OPI A Roll In the Hague.

I contemplated layering Shoot the Butterfly over a black but decided to apply 2 generous coats over my top coat. I think it gave a chunkier appearance than I would have liked so I will definitely wear it over a black polish next time. But for such a densely packed jelly polish, Shoot the Butterfly has a lovely formula and wears very well.

I thought, for old times sake, I would share Shoot the Butterfly with some butterfly hair clips. REMEMBER BUTTERFLY HAIR CLIPS?! So much nostalgia. I would wear like 10 in my hair at one time back in the day. I loved them. I love CrowsToes. Butterflies rule!

Fantastic Fridays

Shame on me! I have missed the past two Fantastic Fridays. Not for lack of fantastic things but mostly for lack of my brain! Anyway, I'm here with fantasticness so let's do this!

we heart it
BEETLEJUICE! I sincerely love this movie with my whole heart. I'm very selective about movies and this is one that have loved and will always love. Also, I really want to wear black and white vertical stripes all the time. And Lydia is my spirit movie character (like a spirit animal but a movie character).

Scofflaw Nail Varnish Cloud Cuckoo

I've said this before and I'll say it again, I LOVE creme polishes with embedded glitter. This polish is NO exception. Like all those bold statements? haha

I think this polish, despite its delicate, light appearance, is great for fall. The gold and purple glitter is just fabulous. On first coat the base looks white but once you get to the second coat you can detect a slight purple tinge and I just love it!

The formula is pretty great as with the other polishes I've tried from Scofflaw however I had to do more fishing around to get the glitter.

I used Illamasqua Baptiste to make some tri-accents but left that business to one hand only. The colour matched the purple glitters in the Scofflaw but I just wasn't feeling the triangles, they weren't sharp enough.

Hey I'm realizing now that the jacket I was wearing matched the gold glitters quite well. I bet you're wondering what other items of clothing I paired with my nails, aren't you?
Just you wait ;)

THIS is cuteness.

Shleee Polish The Great Pumpkin + ORLY It's Not Rocket Science {Halloween 2013 Mani #1}

HALLOWEEN IS COMING!

How can you tell? Our nails are covered with pumpkins, orange, black, and green!

Shleee Polish The Great Pumpkin is the perfect Autumnal polish. Not only is it sparkly, festive, and pretty... it's a tribute to "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"!

(How could you not love this film? Or this polish?)

Luckily, The Great Pumpkin is still available in the Shleee Polish Etsy Shop! We chose to layer Shleee Polish The Great Pumpkin over ORLY It's Not Rocket Science - a murky, gold-green that is absolutely gorgeous with it's glass flecks and shimmer. This combo was so exciting to wear and I really didn't want to remove this mani.

The macro bottle shot totally screams Halloween and Autumn! We can't get enough. Not only is this polish awesome to look at, it applies so well (like every Shleee Polish we have ever tried). We barely had to fish for the pumpkin glitters - bonus! Surprisingly, they lay pretty flat with one coat of Gelous and one coat of Seche Vite.

So in love!
