HARE Polish Party Palace

This polish might look familiar on this blog which is correct because Riley wore it many moons ago here. I cannot get over how gorgeous this polish really is! It's hot pink with the nicest blue shimmer I ever did see. And don't forget the adorable little red and white square glitters dispersed throughout.

I kind of love this polish and might consider it one of my favorites ever. It's definitely in the top 10! I wore 2 flawless coats here. It evens out so well after the second coat considering it's packed with glitters.

Nearly Spring Makeup

I felt like doing something fun one day and this is what I ended up with - something springy but with a little wintery vibe. I used MAC Violet Trance with some colours from Sleek MakeUp Ultra Matte V2 palette (white, purple, and dark blue). The blue liner on the bottom is from NYX.

It's been a while since I had the time to experiment with makeup and it was nice to get back into it.

Here's a song that makes me feel springy - the whole album does I don't know why.

China Glaze Fast Track + Cult Nails Princess

Simple nail art. That's what I'm into. Nothing too time consuming. I can get easily frustrated with nail art. Things get tense, LOL.

I decided to pair China Glaze Fast Track with Cult Nails Princess because both polishes have a subtle shimmer - Fast Track having a gold shimmer and Princess having a pink-copper shimmer. Ultimately, you cannot see the shimmer in Princess on my nails but it helped me pair the two colours ;)

This design was inspired by some nails done my Hey Nice Nails a while ago.  You can use this link to purchase any Cult Nails polishes and receive $12 off your purchase of $24 or more! Click here.

ORLY Haley's Comet + Some Mermaid-y Betsey Johnson Jewlery

ORLY Haley's Comet is a classic and perennial favorite of ours. There's something about the turquoise/green/blue shift and flecks that stole our hearts the first time we laid eyes on it. Of course, there are more interesting and recent polishes to swoon over but we will always have a special place in our hearts for this polish.

These nails remind us less of outer space and more of the deep sea. Hence the mermaid-inspired jewelry we featured with Haley's Comet. The pieces are both Betsey Johnson and we love them to death.

A polish + jewlery match made in heaven!

Lumina Lacquer Discotheque

Gold and bright red coral! What a combination. I really love how the two base polishes compliment each other... and Lumina Lacquer Discotheque really brings them together even more.

Bottle shot of Discotheque! While I love the look of this polish, I must admit that it was one of the worst glitters I have ever used. It was gloopy and dry and hard to manipulate the glitters.

Regardless, this is a super pretty mani and I'm disappointed Discotheque didn't cooperate as well as I would have hoped.

(Tarina Tarantino Sugar Skulls Bracelet - my favorite!)

Wet N Wild - Megalast Lip Color 901D (Stoplight Red)

You can never have too many red lipsticks. That's how I feel. They're an instant pick-me-up; when you're having a lazy day just throw on some red lipstick and you're good to go.

Wet N Wild makes great, inexpensive lipsticks and 901D, or Stoplight Red, is no exception. You may already know that this is touted as a dupe for MAC Russian Red - a lipstick I absolutely adore!! I think that this is a bit brighter but it is beautifully cool-toned like Russian Red. So, if you want a blue-toned red that's super cheap this might be the one for you. Bonus: this leaves a nice stain behind.

I'm no expert but I think this is a universally flattering red. The one thing I will say that could be a negative is that it is super creamy. It does tend to feather on me because it is so creamy but that's nothing a little lip liner can't fix!! Plus, at this price you really can't go wrong.

Shleee Polish Beemo (Topper)

Beemo (Topper) from Shleee Polish is pretty freaking awesome. I must admit that I am not a follower of Adventure Time (which is the inspiration behind this polish) but I love the look of these glitters together.

I wore 1 coat of Beemo over 2-3 coats of China Glaze Rainbow (which you can see on its own here). It's a pinky opalescent white polish that works so so beautifully with Beemo. Beemo features green, turquoise, yellow, black, and red glitters in a shimmering base.

The mix of glitters in this polish is so unique and fun but also really tasteful. I loved this mani and wore it for about a week.

Beemo is still available in the Shleee Polish etsy shop so check it out if you think you'll love it as much as I do.

Lime Crime Styletto Lipstick

One of my favourite lipsticks that I shamefully don't pull out enough. It's Lime Crime Styletto. I really do need this on my lips more. It's super fun. And pretty wearable, in my opinion.

Lime Crime has the best packaging. Hello? There's a holographic unicorn on it!! :)

The lipstick smells great, too. Like a sweet vanilla scent but nothing overpowering and it isn't a long-lasting scent, either. This lipstick has quite a lot of slip, it glides on very easily. I do find it tends to bleed, you can even see it starting a little in the photo below and I only had it on for a short amount of time. Definitely wear a lip liner with this one folks. You do need to apply a few layers in order to get this even and fully opaque but if you were to apply a black liner (either eye or lip, if that exists) you wouldn't need to layer so much. I do love that this is a glossy black, it really amps up the sleekness.

It's so great to wear unexpected colours and most often they aren't as scary as you might think at first. Be free to experiment with makeup and you never know what exciting products you'll find!!

How to tame crusty cuticles.

before cuticle maintenance
Whoa how embarrassing is that picture? LOL I can't even!!
Not only do my cuticles look better now but my polish application has much improved.
Jeez, what was I doing?

You can use this cuticle softener from Sally Beauty or the CND cuticle remover, I find both work equally well to remove cuticles. First, you dab a little of the product at the base of each nail then you'll smooth it out along your cuticles. Don't rub it in but try to build it up around the cuticle. Leave it on your nails for anywhere from 3-5 mins.

After the time is up take a cuticle-pusher-backer-thingy and, using circular motions, move along the base of the nail. You should be able to see your cuticle being removed. If you're using the Sally Beauty cuticle remover you'll want to wipe the residual product off with a clean paper towel but if you go with CND just rub in the leftover product.

To make sure them cuticles are super healthy, apply cuticle oil or our personal favourite: Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream.

Shleee Polish Killer B.O.B. + Ozotic 606

I wasn't a big fan of these nails. Looking at them now they don't look so bad. They just felt chunky and I don't do chunky nails well. The glitters in Killer Bob stuck off too much for my liking which was really annoying.

The combination of pale purple with star, moon, and skull glitters makes me think of a demonic Mr. Sandman or Der Kindestod... from Buffy... anyone else feeling me?

Scofflaw Nail Varnish - Insert Lemon Pun Here

The above picture won't upload straight up which is annoying but I think you can still get the gist of things. A bright, summery shade from the snowiest day. Ugh, I really wish I didn't have school today.

As you can see this polish has yellow, green, and red-orange holographic glitters in it. I have applied two coats here with top coat and it covers my nails well. I could hardly see my nail line.

I've professed my love for creme polishes with glitter before and this polish is no exception. I usually don't like yellow polish on me but this one wasn't too bad. I wore this polish for a week without getting bored of it plus it had minimal tip-wear and chipping.

Illamasqua Baptiste + Shleee Polish Color of the Year

Right now I am loving these nails. Purple has always been my favourite colour (except for that weird phase where it was orange) and these nails totally speak to that love.
Normally I'm really not a big fan of glitter toppers. I tend to find that they make my shorter nails feel really chunky, however, that's not at all the case here. The glitters lie flat on the nail and compliment the base colour wonderfully.

Baptiste is a GORGEOUS purple on it's own and I love how deep it is; combining it with Color of the Year makes for some pretty captivating nails, in my opinion. Baptiste is truly the perfect base colour.

Color of the Year consists of various sized holographic circle glitters of various shades of purple.
I love it!

Color of the Year was an exclusive shade that isn't for sale but Shleee Polish sells many exquisite polishes (obviously we're fans) so you can check out her shop here
