August 2020 Polish Pickup Weird Science Swatches & Review

Provided for review

The theme for the August Polish Pickup is Weird Science. The first thing that popped into my mind was the 1985 movie Weird Science which, despite being born many years after its release, I rented on DVD in high school. My younger (and only) sister was really into 1980s movies like Pretty In Pink and Sixteen Candles so Weird Science was a logical fit as a teen movie from the 80s. That's a random fact about my sister and I. Anyway, I have three polishes to share with you which are not inspired by the film but other interesting - or weird - science stuff. My Indie Polish, Girly Bits and Paint It Pretty Polish sent me their wonderful creations for review so below you will find swatches, thoughts and a link to my YouTube channel for the live swatches.

The August Weird Science Polish Pickup shop will open on August 7 and close at midnight EST on August 10. I know my review is super early but that gives you even more time to prepare your shopping list.

Bronze linear holographic nail polish with copper shimmer

Girly Bits Blind Mind's Eye (2 coats | $13 USD | 15 mL | no cap | 5 free & cruelty free) is an intense brown/bronze linear holo with flickers of gold and copper. Wow! What an incredible formula and strong linear holographic flame. This polish packs a punch of shimmer and holo. It also manages to be a killer twist on a neutral nail polish. @your.girl.vee on Instagram has stunning swatches of this polish that you should also check out!

My Indie Polish Replicated swatch by Streets Ahead Style

My Indie Polish Replicated ($13 USD | 15 mL | 75 US/5 UK cap) is a lilac crelly with a very random mix of glitters ranging from black rectangles to stars to yellow hexes. This polish is inspired by DNA replication and the random ways in which genes are mixed together to create new life. Hence the randomness of the glitter! I was able to achieve this look in three thin coats. I barely had to work to get a ton of glitter on my nails. The base is so soft and ethereal and the mix of glitters is totally unexpected yet work so well together. This polish gets a big thumbs up from me!

neon green nail polish with tiny blue glitters and sparkle

Paint It Pretty Polish Get Slimed (2 coats | $12 USD | 15 mL | 100 US/10 UK cap) is a neon green base with a golden shimmer and blue glitters that glows in the dark. Another amazing polish with an excellent formula. I think some people might want to do three coats if they have a visible nail line or super long nails. I liked how this looked in two coats and it really does glow in the dark. It's such a flattering neon green and the blue glitters are just so cute!
