October 2020 Polish Pickup Animation Theme Swatches & Review

  Provided for review

Cartoons define each generation. When I was growing up, I loved cartoons like Rugrats, The Weekenders, The Powerpuff Girls, The Magic School Bus (which I only recently discovered Ms. Frizzle was voiced by the talented Lily Tomlin) and Pepper Ann. I also loved swatching Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? but those were reruns from the 1960s and totally timeless. And then there was SpongeBob SquarePants... Oh, SpongeBob! I will never forget the first time I watched it and I still love it to this day. Anyway, enough about me. I'm talking about cartoons and animation because that's the theme for the October Polish Pickup.

I've got swatches of Canadian brands My Indie PolishGirly Bits and Paint It Pretty Polish. They made absolutely gorgeous polishes for this month's shop and they're all in the blue family coincidentally enough. I've got photos below but I also have live swatches on my YouTube channel

The October Polish Pickup shop will open on October 2 and close at midnight EST on October 5. For UK customers, the Polish Pickup UK site opens Thursday October 1 through October 5.

Let's check out these animation-inspired nail polishes.

My Indie Polish Bedtime Bear swatch

My Indie Polish Bedtime Bear ($13 USD | 3 coats | 15 mL | 75 US/5 UK cap | 5 free and cruelty free) is inspired by Care Bears! Specifically Bedtime Bear. The blue one with the moon on their stomach. This polish nailed the inspiration. It's a soft baby blue crelly with neon yellow dots and white stars in two different sizes. I love love love this polish. It's so cute I can barely stand it. I love the combination of the base and the neon glitters and stars. Stars are some of my favourite shape of glitters and they work perfectly well in this polish. I had to do a little bit of fishing but not much. This polish applies beautifully and as with all My Indie Polish crellies, it's not too thirsty which I like.

Paint It Pretty Polish I'm Not A Prize To Be Won swatch

Paint It Pretty Polish I'm Not A Prize To Be Won ($12 USD | 3 coats | 15 mL | 90 USD/5 UK cap | 5 free and cruelty free) is inspired by Jasmine from Aladdin. This polish is described as a light blue sheer base with tons of gold/green/pink irridescent flakes. Another polish that totally nailed the inspiration. I can absolutely see Jasmine's outfit from this polish. While the base is sheer, it builds up perfectly well in three coats and pretty much covers any visible nail underneath because of all the flakes. The flakes really glow and this polish is so beautiful. I also show it with a matte top coat below and it looks absolutely amazing with a matte or glossy top coat. Wear it either way for two different looks.

Girly Bits Put That Thing Back Where It Came From swatch

Girly Bits Put That Thing Back Where It Came From ($13 USD | 15 mL | 3 coats | no cap | 5 free and cruelty free) is a vibrant green to blue multi-chrome that shifts through shades of lime green, emerald, and turquoise, with flashes of bright sapphire blue at the edges. This polish is inspired by Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc. and I just love love love the inspiration and nail polish. As I applied this polish I kept thinking how luxurious the experience was as well as the colour. The formula is incredibly smooth and lush and the finish looks like an emerald on the nails. I had no issues with brush strokes as I have experienced with other multichromes from other brands. If you like greens, you absolutely need this polish. I have tried my fair share of green multichromes and this is like no other.

Girly Bits is also offering her much-loved glitter globe pen this month! It will be $8.75 USD with US cap: 115 / UK cap: 5. October’s pen has a multi-coloured barrel with a rainbow of pink, purple, and blue, with hints of green, and gold. The clear top half is filled with a custom blend of holographic green and blue glitter floating in a clear liquid.
These are a fatter style pen and take the same cartridge as all the other pens, and they are equally as nice to write with. The refillable ink cartridge is black ball point.

All products are pre-ordered (capped or uncapped) and will ship a minimum of 3 weeks after sale commencement. The Pickups ship for a flat fee of $3 in the US and shipping to Canada is based on weight and starts at $6 USD. Shipping to European countries is available through The Pickups UK website. The Pickups will combine orders placed over the four day sale period. This will happen automatically when shipping begins and you will then receive your shipping overage refunds.

What do you think of the October offerings for Polish Pickup? Are you a fan of cartoons and animation? I have a ton more polishes on my wishlist because there are many beautiful creations this month. It's hard narrowing down my wishlist to just 3 or 4 polishes but I will try my best!
