The May 2020 Pretty Polish of the Month from Paint It Pretty Polish is Smaragdus. If you made a funny face as you tried to pronounce the name, don't worry - I did too. As you might know, Paint It Pretty Polish is continuing her series of birthstone-inspired nail polishes and this month's birthstone is emerald. Or, as the Romans referred to it: smaragdus. Emeralds are a symbol of rebirth and love. They are also the rarest gemstones. I didn't know that last bit. My parents' wedding bands contain emeralds so the love reference makes sense. Okay, enough about gemstones... onto the swatches!
Paint It Pretty Polish Smaragdus ($11 CAD | 15 mL | 3 coats) features an emerald green base packed with blue to green shifting shimmer and multi-coloured flakes. This one has a buildable formula and looked best in three coats. The flakes show up nicely and really sparkle in the light. This polish definitely has the same base colour as the emeralds I've seen. Really lovely green!
